bo rhap queen

A few years ago, we put together an edit mix of different versions of Bohemian Rhapsody as a little Xmas gift for our mailing list.

Since then, I’ve been asked with rather surprising regularity for a list of the featured artists, which I’ve never got round to doing, mainly because I couldn’t remember where the source files were (sorry!). I got asked again t’other day and have actually managed to dig them up, so here, for those of you who are interested, is the list, in order of appearance (although some do appear more than once!).

And here’s a link if you’ve never actually heard it:

The Kleptones – Bo

Looking back on it now, I’m surprised that we couldn’t find room for the solo accordion version, but there you go. There’s two versions in there that even we don’t know, as they came from untagged mp3s (if you want to play spot the Bo, they happen at 1m09 and 5m50 – Answers on a postcard, thanks).

So now you know :)

Bale out…

He Does Not Get It.

The good folks at Snuggles tipped me to the wonderful audio of Christian Bale freaking out on the Terminator Salvation set (yeah I know, it’s everywhere – forgive me for not keeping up to date with net memes ;), and it seemed so in sync with the tune I was working on at the time that I knocked up a quick remix:

The Kleptones – Who Cares? (Bale Out remix)

I think it turned out rather well – Hope you like!

I don't believe there's a reason...

Got a trio of stompers to post over the holidays that should clear the cobwebs from your food-and-drink addled brains and give you something to irritate the relatives with. Also, if the impending deluge of egg nog and mulled wine doesn’t completely destroy me, there will be a “Best Of 2008” mix or two before the new year :)

First up, a fresher than fresh one, hot from the overnight oven…

The Kleptones – Controlled Revenge (blog version)

The Kleptones – Little Fight (blog version)

(PS Let me know in the comments if this one distorts on the bass – it sounded crispy on the mp3 player I normally use, but not on any others… weird.)

Well it looks like the best intentions of having a new album up before the end of the year are going to remain just that for now (although it is getting there – more on that soon ;), so by way of a taster, I’m going to start posting up some demos to keep you ticking over :) I’m using “demo” in it’s most straightforwardly pointless meaning, as these are for “demonstation purposes only”, just like, er, everything else on this site!

But yes, demos these will be, some will be less finished than others, some will just need a bit of a remix, but I’ll also be posting up a few scraps and curios that didn’t or haven’t yet made the grade for some reason or other (but still have something going for them!) for you to pick the meat out of, which I’m hoping you’ll find interesting…

So to kick off here’s one that got a live debut over the summer at Beachdown, much to the surprise of at least half the band who had no idea I was going to drop it, hehe – just as well it went down good.

The Kleptones – Deeper Sand (demo)

Hope you like and if you do, stay tuned, as there’ll be more of these every day or two until the album (or until we run out of demos and start to slowly go mad…)

PS You may notice this is not the Hectic City mix that was promised last post – Apologies if you’re waiting, it is on its way, but the album stuff has taken over for a bit – soon come though, so thanks for the comment nudges – your boots up our arses are, as always, very much appreciated…

Festivalia!

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Hello folks,

Set times for Kendal Calling and Beachdown ahoy!

Kendal : We’re on 7pm Main Stage on Friday 1st August. (Before Beardyman and Dizzee Rascal :)

Beachdown : We’re on 3:45pm (ish) Second Stage on Saturday 23rd August.

All good! Sadly, due to the times of the sets and other restraints, we’re not going to be able to bring the super spanking video experience to either festival (aw!), but rest assured we’ll be making up for it in all manner of other “unplugged” crazyness – and, of course, we want you to be part of it (and you will!), so if you’re coming along, dig out your finest duds and get fresh for the weekend – we’re showing out…!

xEx

PS Making up for the lack of video at the above, Crumbs Chief made an excellent video for “Underground Hand” off 24 Hours – Shame we can’t show it on the big screen just yet… but here tis – Many, many thanks CC :)
